In their words
“I hired Matt over a year ago and he still teaches my kid piano. Her improvement is remarkable and she loves to keep learning. It is a testament to how good a teacher Matt is.”
“I can't explain how much more confident my son feels now — and how much he's learning about the music he likes. He definitely clicks with Matt, who was upfront and organized with scheduling.”
“I started as a beginner, and after the free trial I knew I'd be taking lessons. Matt is attentive, organized, and patient — he's not just teaching people to play, but to be confident performers. I've noticed a ton of progress.”

About
Meet Matt Shill
“I want every student to leave a lesson feeling like they made real progress — and excited to come back next week.”
I've taught for 15+ years — first lessons through conservatory auditions. I meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go.
Dual degrees in Piano and Guitar Performance from Frost (University of Miami), with early training at Eastman. I teach piano, guitar, voice, bass, and drums — formal technique plus real-world musicianship.
Students have gone on to Juilliard, Berklee, and Manhattan School of Music. Outside the studio I write, record, and perform — with over a million streams on my debut album.
FAQ
Common questions
About 30 minutes, no credit card, no commitment. We talk through your goals, play a bit so I can assess your level, and see whether weekly lessons are the right fit. I'll confirm a time within 24 hours.
Choose a weekly lesson length — 30, 45, or 60 minutes — and subscribe monthly through Stripe. The rate is the same whether that month has 4 or 5 lessons. After subscribing, you'll pick your weekly time. You can cancel anytime before the next billing cycle.
Every subscription includes Never Miss A Lesson™. If you can't attend live, I record a custom video lesson with updated notes so you don't lose the week. We can also reschedule when needed.
Most new students start within a week of the trial. I teach across time zones — we'll find a recurring weekly slot that fits. Availability is limited, so the trial is the fastest way to lock a time.

For technique, repertoire, theory, and audition coaching — yes. Lessons are live, one-on-one video. You'll need a reliable connection, a camera, and your instrument. I work with students across time zones.
Kids, teens, and adults — complete beginners through conservatory audition prep. If you can sit at the instrument for a focused half hour, we can work together. We'll confirm fit at the free trial.
Your instrument (or a keyboard for piano beginners), a quiet space, and a willingness to practice between lessons. I'll help you figure out the rest at your free trial.
For younger students, parents are welcome to observe — especially early on. As students get comfortable, many prefer to learn independently. We'll find what works best for your family.
